From Event To Oval
The production of a built environment..

USM was having their convocation from 14th to 17th August 2008, for 38th anniversary at our main campus in Pulau Pinang. This is my first time going to the USM convocation because I'm the first year student! So, how amazing!!? I'm so excited. So let’s see what’s cool about USM Convocation Expo or Convex 2008.

I went to USM Convex because I have a new assignment for RAG132 this semester. As far as I concern, none of my knowledge know about USM convocation. By the way, I’m taking this opportunity to wish congratulations for who had just graduated from this convocation!!

For the beginner, the expo was located about 200 meters from the entrance Sungai Dua (2). The best thing about their expo is that, it was situated in a shaded area (near the Dewan Tunku Syed Putra, convocation event). So visitors won’t get heated since there are big trees all over the place.

They have many interesting events. However, I only managed to watch the exhibition. This is because, our concept assignment is "From event to oval the production of a built environment". But, i still enjoy with the event. For your information, i buying a new digital camera!! yahooo!! they give me a lots of discount. However, I was amazed by the giant canopy for the stage performance.

Besides that, some of the attractive activities are the inflatables for kids. They even have pony ride activities which has become our (USM convex) trademark for years. They also have a mini play-safe playground for every kids.

USM also are very serious regarding the green environment. Do you still remember about the Eco-pack? All foods and beverages at the expo are required to use paper based packaging material. I hope, every people can learn something from our campaign. The main subject for our campaign is "Mahasiswa Pemangkin Kelestarian Masa Hadapan". So, sustainable our environment are most important to each other.

They also can fell the convocation environment. One day i hope, they could be one of the person in graduation!! Insyallah..

Although the event, we also want a clean surrounding. So they have a lots of dustbin anywhere.

BUILT ENVIRONMENT..... what is it???

LECTURE 1st

This is basically the question when i attend Dr. Wan Burhanuddin classes. Actully, i don't really the real thing about the subject.

Sometime, i asked to myself why we must study about this lecture? How does it work in our society?

SO................

for the first lecture i learn is "Production Model"



Production must consist of six elements :



Intention: vision,objective,what we want to do..
Act :create,draw,built,recycle
Product : alam bina
Actor : individual, institution,who want to do(architect,planner,engineer)
Rule : law, adat, kepercayaan, kebiasaan
Site : the earth,land

we must have a knowledge 1st! so,the production almost go on.
what is the knowledge?

• is a product
• listen can't here
• looking can't see
• understanding from the head not heart!!
• from heart, the understanding will move to the brain
• rule between rite or wrong
• MUST have an IDEOLOGY

How about intention??

Intention in Bahasa means "niat". In Arabic language also "nawaitu". So, what I'm understand is intention fully important if we want to do something. Eating also want to intention. So, everything to do, must have a mission & vission. If we have that true intention, the work can fully success!! So, the perfect "product" become the best intention.

2nd LECTURE

• What i understand is, the signboard mention to the "product". This shown public intention. so, we can see what public want to do.

• they have 7 scale need.
• 1st until 6 scale can defined by own looking, but scale of number 7 indicated by the question how do i look at the earth/global (site)
